Strategic Objectives
-
Strategic Objective 1By combining high-quality observations, analysis, and numerical models across diverse scientific fields, we aim to better understand and predict changes in the Arctic environment.
AerosolsAerosols related to Arctic environmental change and their impact on climate.
Greenhouse GasesTracking greenhouse gases accompanied with climate and ecosystem changes.
Climate DisastersAttribution and predictability of climate disasters linked to Arctic environmental changes.
BiodiversitiesEstablishing a Scientific Basis for Future Prediction and Conservation of Arctic Biodiversity. -
Strategic Objective 2We provide knowledge that supports policy-making and the building of sustainable societies, helping communities and people adapt to the impacts of environmental change.
Conservation and development of the Arctic OceanMonitoring and predicting the change and variability of ice-covered seas for environmentally friendly development of the Arctic Ocean.
Coastal CommunityChanges in snow, ice, oceans, and ecosystems in the Arctic coastal region and sustainable environment-society systems.
Land Life EnvironmentBroad-scale visualization of the changing land life environment and Its application for the future of the anthroposphere. -
Strategic Objective 3We focus on the cultures and social systems of people living in the Arctic, studying how they are changing in the midst of rapid transformations, and exploring pathways toward coexistence.
Research Platforms
ArCS III develops and maintains research platforms that are essential for advancing Arctic science. These include observation facilities, research vessels, high-performance simulation systems, and satellite data platforms, as well as programs for human resource development and outreach activities such as the project website.
