Arctic Data System (ADS)
Arctic Data System (ADS)

Manager: Hironori Yabuki (National Institute of Polar Research)
The Arctic Data System comprises two main components: the Arctic and Antarctic Data archive System (ADS), which is responsible for storing, managing, and publishing research data obtained through the ArCS III project, and the Arctic Sea Ice Information Center, whose primary objective is the creation of information centered around sea ice forecasting in the Arctic.
ADS focuses on developing a foundation for “Open Science” in Arctic research and promotes the domestic and international exchange of Arctic research “big data.” Meanwhile, the Arctic Sea Ice Information Center develops short- and medium-term forecasting models for Arctic Sea ice and disseminates related information.
This project aims to enhance the international flow of metadata by strengthening current metadata circulation efforts. Specifically, it will collaborate with major Arctic research data infrastructures, including the Arctic Data Center (ADC), Sustaining Arctic Observing Networks (SAON), and the Svalbard Integrated Arctic Earth Observing System (SIOS).
The Research Infrastructure also seeks to develop a web-based visualization and analysis system for the collected and generated “Arctic information,” with the goal of creating new value from that data. Furthermore, it will construct information services based on the newly generated value.
